Milkweed

Milkweed

Milkweed was rescued along with his friend Pedro by a man who worked for a livestock auction in western Massachusetts. The two llamas had previously been used as pack animals but had gotten too old to work, so they were going to be being sold for their meat. Fortunately, the man decided to rescue them and bring them to MFS instead.

When Milkweed and Pedro arrived at MFS in 2006, they were both around 9 years old and were quite skinny. We made sure they had plenty of healthy food to eat and a safe place to call home. Today the two llamas—both in their 20’s—still love hanging out together, whether they are lounging in the sun or cooling down with water from the hose.

Milkweed crossed the rainbow bridge in 2021 after a long, happy life at Maple Farm.
