Picard

Picard

Picard arrived at MFS in October 2018 when he was just 6 months old. He was being raised at a local farm, where he would have been rented out for use in live nativity scenes for the 2018 holiday season before being sent to slaughter. Fortunately, a local animal advocate convinced the farm’s owner to give him to MFS instead.

While it will take some time for Picard to adjust to life at MFS, he has gradually been getting to know our herd and has even gotten in on some head-butting action with our more playful goats. We are hopeful that he will also bond with our other resident sheep, Finn, with whom he shares a similar rescue story.

Picard is a Jacob sheep, an ancient breed that can be distinguished by the dark patches on their wool and numerous horns. Picard has four horns and other Jacob sheep have six!

Picard was rehomed to a farm that had other Jacob sheep. We knew he would be happier with more friends of his own kind.
