Dragon was originally rescued by a well-intentioned woman who purchased him, along with two boar goats and a Holstein steer, at an auction where the animals would likely have otherwise been slaughtered. Unfortunately, despite her good intentions, the woman did not understand how to feed the animals properly. For about two years she fed them too much grain, which led the two boar goats to develop fatal urinary tract issues and the steer to have a thiamine deficiency.

In 2000, MFS took in both Dragon and the steer, named Max, who had gone blind. Max had a peaceful life at MFS, including receiving many carrots from our tour visitors, until he passed away in 2015.

Somehow Dragon had made it through the ordeal unscathed, and upon arrival he was very appreciative of all of the food and attention we gave him. Dragon is now in his elder years and is mostly blind but is still a mischievous, cuddly, in-your-face goat. We all love him so much and need support for purchasing his medications that make his elder years more comfortable.
